Receiving and Storing SLD Products

Receiving and Storing SLD Products

Receive and Inspect:

SLD products are double-wrapped in plastic and then boat-wrapped and palletized. SLD ships most products on open flatbed trucks. Occasionally a Conestoga trailer, hotshot team trailer, or box truck will be used depending on the destination location and truck availability. We do require open trucks to be tarped in order to better protect product in transit.

A forklift or telehandler with long forks or fork extensions will be needed in order to offload palletized product from the truck.

Truck Arrival

When the truck arrives, inspect every item as it is removed from the truck for any shipping-related damage. Notate any damage and/or anomalies on the BOL before signing, photograph and report back to SLD ASAP via email: support@sldus.com.
Unload truck with forklift or telehandler and place on a flat even surface.

Do not unwrap the product until it is ready to be installed. This will ensure the units stay clean, dry and protected.  In the event boat wrap needs to be cut to inspect potential damage, please seal the wrap back up post-inspection.

Staging:

Units can be staged on their original pallet or staged on blocks / dollies:

Keep the units wrapped until they are ready to be moved into place and installed.

Opening Boat Wrap:

When the units are ready to be installed, cut away the boat-wrap and the plastic sheeting. Care should be taken as to not cut into the product. Pull wrapping away from product to cut.

Storage:

Since units are double-plastic-wrapped as well as boat-wrapped, they can be stored prior to installation.
If storing units either indoors or outdoors, check boat-wrap for any knicks or tears. Repair any tears with vinal tape.
SLD recommends monitoring temperature and humidity to prevent condensation from forming on the units.

Indoor Storage:

Storing units indoors or inside a shipping container is preferred for both long and short-term storage.
If the boat-wrap is not compromised, units can be stored indoors for long periods of time.
Check on units from time-to-time for any anomalies, rodents, or inadvertent damage to boat-wrap or product.

Outdoor Storage:

It is not recommended to store units outdoors for extended periods of time.
If the boat-wrap is not compromised, units can be stored outdoors if absolutely necessary.
Check on units frequently for any anomalies, rodents, water leaks and/or inadvertent damage to boat-wrap or product.
If units are being stored outdoors, extra tarping is recommended.

Inspecting after long-term storage:

Upon unwrapping units after long-term storage, inspect each unit for any damage, mold, water marks, etc.
Contact SLD Service for recommendations on remedies if any damage is discovered.
