SLD & HEPA Filter Integration

SLD & HEPA Filter Integration

HEPA Filter & SLD Basics

What are HEPA Filters?

HEPA filters clean supplied air when controlled within HVAC ducting. HEPA filters can be used at the location of each diffuser before entering an occupied space. HEPA filters can be customized in regards to width, length, height, & pack depth. SLD has partnered with HEPA filter manufacturers to develop standards for the HEPAs that we specify for our AirFRAME & LEDiffuser systems.
HEPA filters cannot be stored stacked and can be damaged by collisions or damp environments.

Additional information about the airflow within an SLD system, with & without HEPA filters, can be found in this article:

How are HEPA filters integrated into an SLD system?

SLD has developed a standard size and pack depth HEPA filter to be integrated to the Damper Diffuser assembly of any AirFRAME or LEDiffuser.
All Damper Diffuser locations are equipped with quarter-turn retaining clips, enabling any AirFRAME or LEDiffuser system to be outfitted with HEPA filters any time after installation.

When are HEPA filters installed?

  1. Prior to installing clean items, perform 24-48 hour duct blowout with openings fully open.
  2. Perform IPA wipe down of inside of the SLD system.
  3. Install Damper Diffuser assemblies.
    1. Using provided Rivets, line up mounting holes and rivet in place.
    2. Close door and check fit. If there is a gap, massage it out by carefully bending door frame backwards while holding corner.
  4. Install HEPA filters.
    1. Following safe handling instructions, lift into place so gel track seats in knife edge and engage retaining clips.

HEPA Filter Ordering

When do HEPA filters get ordered?

Upon SLD Submittal Approval, the system design is finalized and the damper diffuser count & sizing is confirmed.
HEPA filters for any SLD AirFRAME or LEDiffuser are ordered by SLD & installed by others for all active diffuser locations within a system design.
HEPA filters are installed into SLD equipment after installation & finish work of the main system, therefore, the customer desired ship date of the HEPA filters may be after the AirFRAME or LEDiffuser scheduled installation date. The construction timeline as relayed by the Rep or Site Contact will dictate the appropriate time for the HEPA filters to be shipped directly to the site.

Who is involved?

  1. SLD Inside Sales - provides the HEPA filter quote from SLD
  2. Customer - provides SLD the PO for the filters
  3. Rep or Site Contact - initially provides the appropriate shipping address, site contact & eventually receipt confirmation
  4. SLD Project Manager - confirms sizing & quantity against finalized SLD system design, then coordinates timeline for ordering & shipment

HEPA Filter Ordering Steps:

  1. A quote request for HEPA filters is sent to SLD.
  2. SLD provides a quote for HEPA filters.
  3. A Purchase Order for HEPA filters is sent to SLD.
The SLD AirFRAME system design Submittal is Approved & ready for release to SLD Production.
  1. SLD places the order with an SLD Approved HEPA Vendor.
  2. SLD relays the vendor target ship date to Rep or Site Contact once received.
  3. SLD follows up to confirm that the filters have been received & stored safely.
SLD has limited control over lead times and target ship dates from our outside vendors.
